Avoid the Top 10 Resume Mistakes

Recommended Article: Avoid the Top 10 Resume Mistakes, By Peter Vogt

Resume mistakes are very easy to make and they can instantly ruin your chance at any job.  I know one legal interviewer who starts with a stack of resumes and gives each one a ten second scan for errors.  If the resume has a grammatical error or looks like it was formatted by a child, she throws it out before even reading the content.  She eliminates more than half of the candidates this way and saves herself a lot of time.  She reasons that if the resume has errors, then the work that person will do for her will have errors.  The applicant appears either careless, incompetent or both.  This is why you must have several other people read your resume and mark it up for you.  It is too easy to miss your own errors, because your brain fills in your intentions.

That is only point made in this very solid article by Peter Vogt, Senior Contributing Writer to  He gives nine other points to help keep your resume out of the trash.
