It is commonly understood that sex trafficking is a large problem in Southeast Asia and Western Europe, but unbeknownst to many, it is a huge issue in the United States as well.  According the UN, human trafficking generates $9.5 billion yearly in the United States; 80% of human trafficking victims are women and 50% are minors.  Internationally, 600,000 – 800,000 people are bought, sold and brought across borders each year; 50% are children, most are female. The majority of these victims are forced into the commercial sex trade.
